Dream On!
"Dream On" is an entirely youth-initiated project organised by a bunch of young people, truly passionate about music. I was involved a little less than a month ago, when Rachel, one of the organisers, asked me to help them out to write the English lyrics for their theme song. Wells, I never did write the lyrics, though my involvement somehow evolved into helping them with the production of the album as well as the concert.
The main aims of this project are to inspire youths to pursue their dreams and to raise funds for the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund. We have compiled a CD featuring local bands and we are going to organise a concert to be held at DXO esplanade on the 22nd July. This project would involve 500 volunteers and 1500 copies of the CD needs to be sold. The magnitude of this project is huge, and everything is managed by youths under the age of 20. From getting sponsors, funds, to volunteers, the organisers have really put in their heart and soul to materialise their dreams.
Although my involvement is small, but the process of working with this bunch of great people is really encouraging. I think what's so special about this project is that it shows that youths do and can make a difference. Many youths have dreams, in fact, i believe that all youths have dreams they want to pursue. This "Dream On" project started off as a small dream of wanting to record some songs they wrote themselves, and because of their courage to pursue, it snowballed into something of this magnitude. Moreover, this CD encourages local music.
Singapore's music scene is not as dull as what others perceive it to be. There are indeed many many young talents. They just lack the channels to showcase what they have. Try supporting some local bands and you'll realise the vibrancy of Singapore's music scene. =)
Wells, I shall let the 2 links below elaborate more...

Cos dreams don't need a reason to live. =)
